Humanities and performing arts film series begins

September 10, 2018

The MacMurray College Humanities and Performing Arts Series, Life of the Mind and Spirit, presents the documentary film "Islam in America: The Christian Truth" on Wednesday, Sept. 19, at 7 p.m. in Thoresen Recital Hall, inside the Putnam/Springer Center. This event is free and open to the public.

Directed by Steven D. Martin, the film shows the struggles and triumphs of those who came to America seeking a better life for their families. Through intimate portraits of both immigrants and those who have been U.S. citizens all of their lives, the film shows Muslims "as they truly are: peace loving, responsible citizens, who bring culture and beauty to the places where they live, as well as jobs and economic empowerment." The film is produced by the New Evangelical Partnership for the Common Good.

Dr. Eric Berg, professor of philosophy at MacMurray, will introduce the film and hold a question and answer segment after the showing. For more information about the film series, contact Dr. Jeannie Zeck, professor of English at MacMurray, at 217-479-7119 or at jeannie.zeck@mac.edu.
