Highlanders Clinch win over Rockford

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Highlanders fell behind in the first quarter as Joe Breeden received an 11-yard pass from Andrew Perez to open up the game. MacMurray remained scoreless in the first, but quickly answered in the second quarter as Chazz Middlebrook rushed for 25 yards to put the Highlanders on track. Perez connected with Mar Sean Vercher as well as Breeden in the second quarter to take a 21-7 lead at the half. Three minutes into the third, Middlebrook rushes again for a 41-yard touchdown leading the Highlanders to a trailing score of 21-13. Contained by Highlander defense, Rockford was unable to score in the third. Fourth quarter begins and both teams are unable to put a scoring play together until only four minutes remain. Coy Dorothy throws for two touchdowns to put the Highlanders in their first lead of the game with 27-21. One minute remains in the game and Rockford attempts a Hail Mary pass, and is stopped by the Highlander defense.
 
FOR THE HIGHLANDERS 
 Middlebrook led for the Highlanders rushing for 196 yards on 23 attempts and scoring two touchdowns.
Dorothy completed 15-for-22 throwing for 188 yards and two touchdowns.
Danny Willimas led for the Highlander defense with 14 tackles, seven solo and seven assisted.
 
FOR THE FOES
Perez completed 22-for-35 throwing for 311 yards and three touchdowns.
Jacob Cremeens tallied up 12 tackles, four solo and eight assisted.
