Lovekamp in Atlanta for honors conference
August 11, 2014
Brooke Lovekamp, of Arenzville, IL, journeyed to Atlanta, GA for the 2014 Mortar Board National Conference, an annual conference attended by Mortar Board members from all over the United States.
Mortar Board is a national honor society recognizing college seniors who display exemplary scholarship, leadership and service. To be inducted, a student must have a 3.25 GPA and exhibit leadership qualities.
During the conference, Lovekamp attended several sessions where they learned about topics from visibility on campus to fundraising. Lovekamp, a senior majoring in social work, said, “The conference gave me an opportunity to see what similar sized schools were doing on their campuses and bounce new ideas off of other schools.” She continued, “I am so ready to get started on this year.”
Lovekamp was elected Mortar Board president in April and will hold her first official meeting when the fall semester starts.
