Berg named review editor at scholarly journal
August 7, 2014
Eric Berg, associate professor of philosophy and religion at MacMurray College, has been named the first book review editor of The Journal of Camus Studies.
The position is part of an expanded scope at the peer-reviewed, scholarly journal to include a formal book review process and editor. In this new position, Dr. Berg will scour publishing sources for new books in any language on the French writer and philosopher Albert Camus, books on philosophers who were Camus’ contemporaries, or books on the context surrounding Camus’ work. Dr. Berg will assign the publications for review to scholars anywhere in the world.
Dr. Berg convinced the journal to move forward with the new section, helped establish protocols for writing reviews, formed relationships with academic publishing houses and with scholars who are potential reviewers, drafted a style guide for book reviews and helped establish timelines for the reviews.
He has sent the first books out for review, and the reviews are scheduled to begin with the 2014 edition later this year.
The Journal of Camus Studies is published annually by the Albert Camus Society, which has chapters in the United States and in the United Kingdom.
