Professor honored for work at scholarly journal

June 27, 2014

MacMurray College’s JoEllen Brannan, professor of nursing and chair of the nursing program, received a Certificate of Reviewing Excellence from the editors of Nursing Outlook, a peer-reviewed, scholarly journal published bi-monthly by the American Academy of Nurses.

Dr. Brannan, who has been reviewing articles for publication in Nursing Outlook for about 10 years, reviews about four to five articles per year as part of the group of reviewers who screen articles for publication in the journal.

The honor is in recognition of Dr. Brannan’s hard work and contribution to the publication of scientific and medical research, and is awarded to only a few reviewers each year.

Dr. Brannan, a 1987 graduate of the MacMurray nursing program, has been teaching at the College since 1989. She received her master’s in nursing from St. Louis University and her Ph.D. in nursing from the University of Missouri -- St. Louis. She lives in Jacksonville with her husband, Pat, and they have two children, Leigh and Ryan.
