MacMurray’s quality recognized
June 25, 2014
MacMurray College has been selected as a College of Distinction for 2014-15.
The designation, by the organization of the same name (collegesofdistinction.com), seeks to identify colleges in the country that provide the best atmosphere for students to learn, grow and succeed.
“The inclusion of MacMurray College in America’s Colleges of Distinction underscores the strengths of undergraduate study here, where students are prepared as effective, life-long learners and as effective communicators who are prepared for entry into their professions and graduate study upon completing their degrees” said MacMurray President Colleen Hester. “They also recognized MacMurray’s culture of engaged students; great teaching faculty; our vibrant, warm community; and successful student outcomes.”
To assess these factors, Colleges of Distinction engaged in evaluative interviews with College President Hester and the provost, James Maxwell, to learn more about MacMurray College in light of the areas below, as well as reviewed institutional metrics and data and assessed other sources of information, such as the MacMurray website, to validate fit.
According to Colleges of Distinction, the organization identified colleges that 1) are nationally recognized by educational professionals as excellent institutions; 2) are strongly focused on teaching undergraduates; 3) employ a wide variety of innovative learning experiences; 4) have many opportunities for students’ personal development; and 5) are valued by graduate schools and employers for outstanding preparation.
The annual listing of Colleges of Distinction, including with information about each college, is available online and for the Kindle.
