MacMurray hires new soccer coach
April 4, 2014
Bill Koeppen has been named the new head men’s and women’s soccer coach at MacMurray College.
Koeppen, who played intercollegiate soccer at Davis & Elkins College in West Virginia, has nearly 20 years of collegiate soccer coaching experience, including assistant coaching stints at Creighton University in Omaha, NE, and Drake University in Des Moines, IA.
“I am both honored and humbled to serve as the next head men’s and women’s soccer coach at MacMurray College,” said Koeppen. “MacMurray College is a special place with a bright future, and I look forward to guiding these two teams and assisting them to reach their potential athletically, academically and as productive citizens.”
Koeppen holds a “B” license from the United States Soccer Federation and holds Advanced National and Director of Coaching diplomas from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America. In 1997, he was named the Midlands Collegiate Athletic Conference Coach of the Year after leading the Bellevue University men’s soccer team to conference regular-season and tournament championships.
“We are excited that Bill Koeppen is leading our soccer programs,” said Athletic Director Scott McClure. “He has the knowledge and experience to recruit quality student-athletes and build successful Highlander soccer teams that will compete for SLIAC conference championships and set a standard of excellence at the NCAA Division III level.”
Coach Koeppen served as the executive director of the Elite Development League in Virginia prior to joining the Highlander coaching staff on April 2. Koeppen replaces Shane Taylor, who took a position of head men’s soccer at Bethany College in Kansas earlier this year.
