Faculty to participate in teaching panel

September 20, 2013

A group of MacMurray faculty members will be holding a seminar on teaching college and high school history at the 15th Annual Conference on Illinois History, sponsored by the Illinois Historical Preservation Agency and the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library Foundation, to be held Sept. 26-27 in Springfield.

The MacMurray faculty will present a panel discussion, “The Contours and Contexts of Teaching: Its Challenges and Rewards,” on Thursday, Sept. 26. The members are Chris Strangeman, assistant professor of history, who organized the panel and will serve as moderator; Eric Berg, associate professor of philosophy and religion; Ashley Green, assistant professor of English; Director of Music Laurie Lewis; and Writing Instructor Tom Winski.

They will discuss such questions as: What are some of the greatest challenges facing teachers; how does where we teach change how or what we teach; and other such topics surrounding being a teacher. While they are now all teaching at MacMurray, they bring a variety of backgrounds to the panel, from teaching high school to community college to private college and state university.
