Education professor granted tenure

Dawn Allred, associate professor and director of special education at MacMurray College, was granted tenure by the College in August.
Dr. Allred, who has been teaching at MacMurray since January 2007, has also been the clinical practice supervisor for the Special Education Program since she came to MacMurray.
She started her career as an elementary and middle school teacher before earning a Ph.D. in Education and a master’s in special education from the University of Missouri, St. Louis. She received a her bachelor’s degree in communication from the University of Missouri, Columbia.
She is the author and presenter of numerous papers, including several to the International Conference of the Learning Disabilities Association of America and to Chapter 99 of the Council of Exceptional Children in Jacksonville, IL. Dr. Allred has also been a guest speaker for Chapter 99 of the Council of Exceptional Children in Jacksonville, IL and Chapter 102 in Springfield, IL.
