The Illinois Rural Health Association’s executive director/lobbyist, Margaret Vaughn, who was recently dubbed the “Professional Persuader” by the Chicago Tribune for her effective track record of working for the passage over 90 state laws, will be the next featured speaker at MacMurray College, 7:30 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 5 at Thoresen Recital Hall in the Putnam/Springer Center on campus.
Ms. Vaughn will discuss the latest issues impacting rural health care, including legislation to make it easier for nurses to practice across state lines and mandatory insurance reimbursement for telemedicine.
She will also provide the audience with an insider’s look at how lobbyists shape public policy, and she will share effective lobbying tips, which can be used to improve your professional and personal life.
Vaughn’s career was recently profiled on the cover of the Chicago Tribune “Remarkable Woman” feature.
After serving on the House and Senate staff, Vaughn defied the odds in a male-dominated industry and launched her own lobbying and association management firm at the age of 25.
