Mac professor to judge student work

JACKSONVILLE, IL – Associate Professor of Art Khara Koffel has been selected to judge the 38th Annual High School Art Competition this month sponsored by the Quincy Illinois Art Center.
The competition is open to high school students who live within 50 miles of Quincy, IL, and in past years has seen more than 100 submissions. During the next few weeks, Koffel will determine the 40 or so works accepted for display at the Art Center, as well as the winning entries, which will receive a total of $1,000 in awards.
The accepted works will be exhibited April 6 to April 24, with an opening reception and awards ceremony on April 6.
Koffel has exhibited her work widely in the United States, with one-person exhibitions or pieces accepted in shows in Chicago, St. Louis, Indianapolis, Maryland, Alabama and California.
In 2000, she received her bachelor's in Studio Arts and Art History from Juniata College in Huntingdon, PA, and, in 2003, an MFA in sculpture and photography from the University of Alabama. She resides in Jacksonville with her husband, Marc Benner.
