March 14, 2013

JACKSONVILLE, IL –  Four MacMurray students went to Springfield earlier this week to keep state funding of private colleges on the minds of state legislators.

Pictured with state Sen. Sam McCann (R-Carlinville, center) whose district includes Jacksonville, are, left to right, Ashlee Lore, of New Berlin, IL, and Ashley Gatons, of Springfield, IL, both first-year nursing students; Lindsey Miller, of Pleasant Plains, IL, a senior in biology; and Heath Choate, a senior in accounting from Marisssa, IL.

During the 2013 Federation of Independent Illinois Colleges and Universities Private College Student Lobby Day on March 13 in Springfield, the students met with several state legislators to keep them aware of the importance of MAP grants, the state financial aid  program for higher education.
