MacMurray alumna named new assistant coach

September 25, 2013

Abby Lowe, of Decatur, IL, has been named the new women’s assistant basketball coach and the new women’s assistant golf coach for MacMurray College.

Lowe, a 2010 graduate of MacMurray College, played both basketball and golf during her time as a Highlander. On the court she led her team in scoring, averaging 20 points a game, and was named to the 1st Team All-Conference for the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletics Conference (SLIAC) in 2009.

“Coach Todd Creal told Coach James about me and said I’d be good for the position as women’s basketball assistant coach,” Lowe said. “Derek called me, and I interviewed, and we’re both excited to expand the program.” She will also be James’ assistant women’s golf coach. “I played my last year at MacMurray, and I’m ready to be help build the program.”

Lowe is excited to be back at MacMurray College. “It’s such a familiar atmosphere. It feels good to be back. The one thing I always remember is ‘the team’. It’s great to be part of it again and to be able to show these girls what it means. I’m excited to work hard and make things better.”

Lowe is looking to relocate to Jacksonville, IL.
