The Applebee Art Gallery at MacMurray College is hosting the exhibit ”Contents” through the month of September by artist Erin Eveland, executive director of The HUB – Arts and Cultural Center in Rushville, Illinois.

“We are so lucky to have the incredible work of Erin Eveland on display; her skillfully and beautifully rendered containers turn objects that could easily be overlooked into objects of curiosity," said Khara Koffel, professor of art at MacMurray.

For Eveland, seeing the beauty in the ordinary is a driving force in her work and each piece is influenced by one of her many roles – wife, mother, teacher and advocate for the arts. With “Contents,” Eveland explores the juxtaposition of containers, what we fill them with and how we give them purpose. She says, “Our lives can be considered containers and those who fill it become the contents.”

A closing reception will be held on Monday, Oct. 1, from 6 - 7:30 p.m.
