February 20, 2017 | 11:07 AM

MacMurray College Business Division is sponsoring the showing of the film “The Big Short” on Wednesday, February 22, at 6:15 p.m. in Thoresen Recital Hall, located in Putnam/Springer Center. The event is free and open to the public.

A student lead discussion along with a question and answer session will follow the movie.  “The Big Short,” starring Steve Carrel, Brad Pitt, Christian Bale and Ryan Gosling provides a realistic portrayal of the people and events surrounding the 2008 “Housing Bubble” and ensuing worldwide financial market collapse. (This film is rated R for pervasive language and brief nudity.)

The movie is being offered as a supplement in conjunction with the Econ 305 – Money and Banking course, but will appeal to anyone who is interested in learning more about financial markets and recent housing crisis.
