Amanda Johnson, of Moline, IL, has been named the March Student of the Month at MacMurray College.

Johnson is majoring in Deaf and Hard of Hearing Education and ASL- English Interpretation. She is the present of the ASL Club this year, where she led club meetings, scheduled activities and events and organized fundraising efforts.

She was nominated by Susan Hall, assistant professor of Interpreting.

“I am extremely pleased with the leadership she has shown this year in the ASL Club,” said Hall. “She juggles all of this work along with a double major in her academic course load.”

The eight students of the month during the academic year become the nominees for the annual John Austin Van Hook Outstanding Leadership Award, presented during Commencement weekend that year.
