Highlanders drop to Saint Mary

HOW IT HAPPENED
Highlanders got on the board in the second inning as Taylor Hewitt doubled to bring home Jaimey Watrous. Saint Mary would not answer and the Highlanders would take a 2-0 lead in the bottom third as Watrous singled to bring home Calynn LaGeese. Saint Mary came back in the fourth scoring two runs to tie it up. Highlanders would not score in the bottom fourth. Top of the fifth Kimberly Strattman singled to bring in two runners, giving Saint Mary a 4-2 lead. Melinda Wilson homered in the sixth, but the Highlanders could not close the gap falling in game one, 4-3.
Highlanders scored a run in the first inning in game two with another RBI from Watrous. Saint Mary answered with four runs in the top of the second taking a quick 4-1 lead. LaGeese doubled in the bottom second bringing in two runners, and the Highlanders trailed 4-3. Saint Mary scored two more in the third, taking a 6-3 lead, and the Highlanders would not score again until the fifth inning. Saint Mary continued the streak and finished the game winning 10-4.
FOR THE HIGHLANDERS
LaGeese led going 4-for-8 with two runs and two RBI’s. Watrous and Taylor Hewitt both went 3-for-5 with one run each, and two RBI’s each.
FOR THE FOES
Stephanie Richardson led her team in the second game going 2-for-3 with two runs and three RBI’s. Kimberly Strattman was a leader for game one going 3-for-3 with one run and two RBI’s.
