HOW IT HAPPENED
The Highlanders faced difficulty against the Maryville defense in the first game of the series falling 8-2. The Highlanders opened up the first inning with a run as Drew Johnson grounded to second to bring home Collin Anotoine. Maryville would answer in the bottom of the first scoring two runs, and taking the lead. The Highlanders were unable to score again until the eighth inning and Maryville soared ahead.
The Highlanders came back for the second game dropping to Maryville 10-8. Maryville took the lead in the bottom of the first scoring five runs. Highlanders got on the board in the second inning as Tyler Deaton singled to left field and brought in C.J. Pakeltis. The Highlanders then trailed 5-2 top of the third. The sixth inning brought MacMurray back in the game when they scored five runs. Deaton singled again for an RBI, Antoine brought in three runners with a strong hit, and Brendan Pesko doubled to right center allowing Antoine to score. The Highlanders then trailed 10-8 with three innings left. Both teams played well defensively for the remainder of the game resulting in a 10-8 loss for the Highlanders.

Antoine and Deaton led their team this Saturday with a .429 batting average. Antoine led with 3 RBI’s.

Tyler Bigler played strongest offensively for Maryville with four RBI’s, hitting one home run in each game.
