Highlanders capture first conference win

HOW IT HAPPENED

Kayla Horlacher opened up the game for the Highlanders as she received the ball from Liz Kruemmelbein for a three pointer. Horlacher went 4-for-8 at the three point line shooting 50%. Fontbonne quickly answered with a fast break by DeAmbra Pilkinton, and the two teams battled it out. First quarter ended with a tie score of 11-11. The Highlanders performed with high intensity in the second quarter taking a 29-21 lead at the half. Pilkinton went on a streak in the third quarter and brought her team to a tie score with the Highlanders at 38-38. Caught in foul trouble in the last seconds of the game, Fontbonne slipped behind the Highlanders, and MacMurray took the win 63-60.


 FOR THE HIGHLANDERS 

Brianna Markusic led for the Highlanders with 19 points, 6 rebounds, and 1 assist.

Kayla Horlacher followed with 12 points, 3 assists, and 2 steals

Liz Kruemmelbein contributed 9 points, 10 rebounds, and 5 steals.


 FOR THE FOES

DeAmbra Pilkinton led her team with 11 points and 2 rebounds.

Erika Kuhn added 8 points and 10 rebounds, and 2 steals.

 

 

Next action for the Highlanders comes Saturday, Jan. 23 when they take on Iowa Wesleyan in Bill Wall Gymnasium.
