The MacMurray College baseball team suffered a pair of lop-sided losses to Spalding University Saturday afternoon at Don Timm Field. The Golden Eagles took the opener 14-2 and won the nightcap, 21-6.
Senior pitcher Jake Columbia went 6.2 innings and took the loss in game one. Raustin Zahradka went 2-3 for the Highlanders; Derek Crouch went 1-3 with an RBI; Aaron Krummrich went 1-3 with a run scored and Dillon Hodges went 1-3 and also scored a run.
Coach Justin Fuhler's club scored the first four runs in the second game; but Spalding scored eleven runs in the second inning and seven runs in the seventh. Jake Walch went 2-3 with three RBI and a two-run homer for the Highlanders. Krummrich went 2-3 with an RBI and two runs scored and Zahradka went 2-3 with two RBI and two runs scored.
MacMurray College falls to 8-19 overall and 4-14 in SLIAC play; while Spalding improved to 18-8 overall and 13-2 in league play.
The Golden Eagles will go for the sweep--while the Highlanders will look to end a 9-game losing streak--tomorrow at 1PM when MacMurray College hosts Spalding University in the series finale at Don Timm Field.
