Highlanders Swept at Culver-Stockton College

The MacMurray College softball team was swept on the road today by Culver-Stockton College.  Coach Lexy Determan's club was shutout 9-0 in five innings in the first game; and fell 7-1 in the second game.

The Highlanders managed only two hits in the opening game and freshman pitcher Michala Swanger took the loss on the mound.  Tiffany Hazelwonder (1-1) and Roni Grgin (1-2) each had singles for MacMurray.

Kendyl Cummins took the loss in the second game, despite allowing only five hits and striking out six Wildcats in six innings. The Highlanders committed four errors in the game.

Breezy Walton went 1-2 and was credited with the only Highlander RBI.  Daerial DeGroot went 1-2, and Jenalee Stine, Mackenzie Hocker and Hazelwonder each went 1-3 in the loss.

Culver-Stockton College improved to 13-17 overall, while MacMurray now stands at 3-10 overall.

The Highlanders (0-2 in SLIAC play) will host Greenville College tomorrow afternoon in a SLIAC conference doubleheader at Palmer Field.
