The MacMurray College baseball team dropped a pair of conference games Monday afternoon at Eureka College. The Red Devils took the opener 2-0 and came back with two runs in the eighth to claim the nightcap, 7-6.
Coach Justin Fuhler's club gave up two unearned runs and managed only three hits off Eureka pitcher Bryan Meyer. Highlander starter John Brockhouse pitched four strong innings and kept the Red Devils off the scoreboard. Brockhouse struck out five and allowed only two hits.
Clayton Ruckman got the loss in relief for MacMurray. Raustin Zahradka and Mike Raines each doubled and Tyler Watson singled for the only other Highlander hit.
For the third time in five games, the Highlanders gave up a late lead in the game. Kyler Smith took the loss in relief.
Offensively, Aaron Krummrich went 3-4 with two RBI and a run scored, Alec Quandt had a pair of doubles and two RBI and Derek Crouch went 1-3 and scored three runs.
The Highlanders have now lost five straight and drop to 8-15 overall and 4-10 in conference play.
