Freshman Alec Quandt earned a pitching win in his first career start and the MacMurray College baseball team improved to 7-6 after a 9-3 win Thursday against Robert Morris U-Springfield. Thursday's game was played at Sacred Heart Griffin High School in Springfield.
Quandt gave up two runs (one earned) and scattered six hits in picking up the win. He struck out two and didn't allow a walk in his first collegiate start. He also contributed offensively, going 2-4 with a 2-run double and a run scored.
Freshman infielder Mike Raines went 4-4 at the plate with a double, an RBI and two runs scored. Junior catcher Aaron Krummrich was 3-3 with a double and two runs scored. Freshman outfielder Austin Cory went 2-4 with an RBI and a run scored; and Dillon Hodges, Jeremy White and Brayden Johnson also batted in runs for the Highlanders.
Coach Justin Fuhler's club improves to 7-6 overall and will travel to Webster University on Saturday for a SLIAC doubleheader. They'll host Webster at Timm Field on Sunday afternoon in a single conference game.
