The MacMurray College men's basketball team took over sole possession of second place in the SLIAC standings Saturday afternoon with an 85-72 win over Westminster College.
Senior forward Brady Slagle paced the Highlanders with 21 points, seven rebounds and four assists. Dylan Guthrie went 5-6 from the field (4-5 from 3-point range) and was 3-3 from the free-throw line to add seventeen points in the win; and Spencer Pratt added thirteen points and seven rebounds.
Verdis Lee, Jr. and Joe James led the visiting Blue Jays with fifteen points apiece; and Jordan Jones and Brandon Moore also scored in double-figures with twelve points each.
With the win, the Highlanders improve to 17-5 overall and 13-2 in SLIAC play. Westminster drops to 14-9 overall and 12-4 in conference play.
Coach Todd Creal's club in now alone in second place in the conference standings and one game behind league-leading Spalding University. The Highlanders will host Spalding Monday night at 8PM in Wall Gymnasium.
