The Highlander women’s basketball team met the St. Louis College of Pharmacy Thursday, January 31st at Bill Wall Gymnasium in a non-conference match up. The Highlanders won handily to secure their second win in as many nights.
MacMurray got off to a slow start in this one, but got things going midway through the first period. The Lady Eutectics of Pharmacy had problems just bringing the ball up court and setting up their offense. The Highlanders forced tons of turnovers and desperate shots. This turned into easy baskets for the Highlanders on the other end of the court. By halftime the MacMurray lead had ballooned to 20 as they led 36-16. The second half didn't get any easier for Pharmacy. The Highlanders played unselfish basketball, passing to open teammates and hustling on offense and defense. They were able to clear the bench in the second half en route to a 70-36 victory. Seniors Amy Radford and Kelsey Anderson each scored in double figures for the Highlanders.
With their second straight victory, the Highlanders improve to 7-12 on the season. They will go for their third consecutive victory Monday, February 4th against SLIAC rival Spalding University in Louisville, Kentucky, Tip-off is at 5pm.
