Highlanders Suffer Loss Despite Rally

January 23, 2013

The Lady Highlanders competed against Webster University Wednesday, January 23rd at home and were  handed their third straight defeat with a final score of 63-51.

The Highlanders were going toe to toe with Webster early on, but an onslaught of three point shots by Webster's Maggie Zehner put Webster up 15-30. A much needed rally by MacMurray cut the halftime deficit to 9 as they trailed 37-28 to the Gorloks.

Great three point shooting in the second half helped the Highlanders dig into Webster's lead. The momentum swung back and forth for either teams most of the second half, but ultimately Webster University pulled away and secured the victory. Mac’s senior guard Rachel Yeast provided efficient shooting from behind the arc and led the Highlanders in scoring with 12 points. Senior forward Amy Radford was solid on the boards, leading all players in rebounds with 15.

Next up the Highlanders have a home meeting with conference rival Westminster College on Saturday, January 26th at 1pm.
