Mac showed me that you can do a lot of different things in life. I had never been in a choir before Mac or participated in many activities. Mac gave me the opportunity to try many different things.

Rich is a 1983 graduate of MacMurray College who received a bachelor of science degree in special education. He went on to earn a master's degree in educational leadership from Aurora University. Rich's career has focused upon serving students with special needs.

While at MacMurray, Rich participated in a wide variety of campus activities. These included musical events such as Madrigals and Men's Choir. He was a member of the Campus Activities Board, the J-Board, and a resident assistant.

Rich distinguished himself as an outstanding athlete, setting numerous records on the swim team. He received four varsity letters as a member of the swim team and was voted most valuable swimmer for three seasons. During Rich's senior year, he was co-captain of the swim team and still holds the individual records for the 100-meter and 100-yard backstroke, the 200-meter and 200-yard backstroke, the 200-meter and 200-yard butterfly, and the 200-yard individual medley. In addition, he was part of the record-setting 400-meter and 400-yard medley relay team and the 400-meter free relay team. In the fall of 2009, Rich was inducted into the MacMurray College Athletics Hall of Fame for his accomplishments as a standout swimmer.

Rich's favorite memories at MacMurray include beating Illinois College in swimming during a cross town competition. He also cherishes the opportunity to have participated with talented singers as a part of the MacMurray College Madrigals.

In 2009, Rich was elected to the MacMurray College Alumni Association Board allowing him to give back to the College that served him so well.

Rich resides in Franklin Park, Illinois, with his wife, Julie. He is the father of three daughters — Kiersten, Dana, and Rachel.
