Organizations
Holy Fools
A Christian clown ministry. Students wear
makeup and costumes as part of an expression of their Christian
faith. Each year they write a creative workshop service consisting
of skits, songs, and mime which they present at churches by
invitation. They travel about one weekend a month to these
services, often including two or three services in the same
weekend. They also visit nursing homes and hospitals, do clowning
workshops at youth meetings, and meet every week for rehearsal
and Christian fellowship.
Brothers And Sisters In Christ (BASIC)
This is a local affiliate of a national ministry
sponsored by the Southern Baptist Convention. The group is not strictly
Baptist, however. It includes Christians of all denominations. They
meet weekly for Bible study and fellowship. They also hold service
projects, fund raisers, joint meetings with the BASIC group from Illinois
College across town, and often find opportunities to eat together on
or off campus.
Newman Club
This is a ministry of the Roman Catholic Church,
but open to all students. They meet occasionally for food and discussion,
do service projects and hold mass on campus.
