Ashley Green, assistant professor of English at MacMurray, will provide the soldiers’ perspective during the Great War Encampment held later this month at the Illinois State Military Museum in Springfield, IL.

 Her presentation, “Soldiers’ Shock: The Great War in Soldiers’ Writing,” will be 3 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 16 during the encampment.

 The event, which runs Friday, Nov. 15 to Sunday, Nov. 17, includes several World War I reenactments Saturday and Sunday, displays, and lectures about various aspects of the Great War by area college professors. It is co-sponsored by the Illinois State Military Museum and Lincoln Land Community College, and organized by the State Military Museum.

 The encampment is free and open to the public. The Museum is located at 1301 N. MacArthur Blvd. in Springfield, north of the intersection of MacArthur and North Grand Avenue.

 She received her bachelor’s in philosophy from Western Illinois University in 2000 and her master’s from the University of Illinois Springfield in 2003, studying contemporary literature and creative writing. She earned her Ph.D. in November 2012 from Southern Illinois University Carbondale, specializing in war literature in general and World War I literature in particular.
