English professor promoted
Ashley Green appointed to tenure-track position.

After a national search, Ashley Green has been appointed to the tenure-track position of assistant professor of English at MacMurray College. Green’s promotion becomes effective in the fall with the beginning of the 2013-14 academic year. She has been teaching in a visiting capacity during the current academic year.
Green received her bachelor’s in philosophy from Western Illinois University in 2000 and her master’s from the University of Illinois Springfield in 2003, studying contemporary literature and creative writing. She earned her Ph.D. in November 2012 from Southern Illinois University Carbondale, specializing in war literature in general and World War I literature in particular.
She is revising her dissertation for publication and, at MacMurray, has been teaching developmental reading and the developmental writing sequence, and also tutors at the college’s Center for Learning Excellence. She currently serves on the academic assessment and the retention committees at the college.
Green grew up in nearby Waverly, IL, and graduated from Waverly High School.
