Derek Crouch named Lincoln Laureate
MacMurray senior honored as student laureate for Lincoln Academy of Illinois

MacMurray College senior Derek Crouch has been named the Student Laureate for the Lincoln Academy of Illinois. He is pictured at the Lincoln Laureate Award Ceremony that took place on Nov. 3, 2012, at the Hall of Representatives in the Old State Capitol.
Crouch, a special education major, is the son of Ken Daugherty and Cindy Crouch. He is a MacMurray athlete, playing outfielder for the Highlander baseball team, and is a recipient of the Elizabeth Brown Henson Scholarship, a scholarship awarded to an academically talented and deserving student.
“I actually had a teacher congratulate me before I knew I had won anything,” Crouch said. “Everyone keeps telling me how big of an award this is.”
The Lincoln Laureate Award is presented for excellence in curricular and extracurricular activities to a senior from a four-year, degree-granting college located in Illinois. Crouch will be honored at an award ceremony at MacMurray College on Dec. 6 in the lounge of Kathryn Hall.
