MacMurray College Mortar Board receives award
National Honor Senior Society presented with Silver Torch Award.
JACKSONVILLE, IL – The Cap & Gown chapter at MacMurray College received the Silver Torch Award at the 2012 Mortar Board National Conference, held late July in Chicago. The Cap & Gown chapter at MacMurray College was among the outstanding Mortar Board chapters to be recognized.
Silver Torch Award recipients are chosen based on the chapter meeting the national minimum standards and deadlines. This honor is presented to chapters executing timeliness and dedication while demonstrating the ideals of scholarship, leadership and service. Chapter president Dana Steben, daughter of Jeff and Patti Steben of Lombard, IL, was present to accept the chapter’s award.
Mortar Board is the premier national honor society recognizing college seniors for outstanding achievement in scholarship, leadership and service. Mortar Board also provides opportunities for continued leadership development, promotes service to colleges and universities and encourages lifelong contributions to the global community. The Cap & Gown chapter at MacMurray College was chartered in 1968 and currently has 12 members.
