Athlete named April student of the month

Derek Crouch recognized as a student leader.

JACKSONVILLE, IL – Derek Crouch, of Chatham, IL, was named MacMurray student leader of the month for April 2012. To be named a student leader, scholars must show academic excellence and involvement around campus.

As a current MacMurray baseball player, Crouch has demonstrated the qualities of a student leader. “Derek has exhibited outstanding leadership skills from the moment he set foot on campus,” said Andrew Bartman, head baseball coach.

“He has contributed to baseball community service projects and has also attainted a 4.0 grade point average this fall semester,” said Bartman. “Derek always volunteers whether it be helping out at baseball camp or assisting other coaches with small projects.”

A 2009 Glenwood High School graduate, Crouch is the son of Ken Daugherty and Cindy Crouch of Chatham.
