MacMurray volunteers at Salvation Army
Students, staff and faculty give back to community.

MacMurray students, faculty and staff donated their time yesterday afternoon to give back to the Jacksonville community. The Jacksonville Salvation Army was in need for some help, preparing for the upcoming holiday season. MacMurray volunteers spent the afternoon of Nov. 17 sorting through donations and cleaning up and organizing the Salvation Army store on South Main St. in Jacksonville.
About 30 people from MacMurray participated, many MacMurray athletes.“Lending a hand is crucial to receiving a well-rounded experience at MacMurray,” said Andrew Bartman, head baseball coach. “We definitely look forward to helping them out again and reminding our players that service to others is a key component of this holiday season."
Head soccer coach Shane Taylor also helped volunteer. “Our goal in our volunteer service is to teach our student athletes that people who unselfishly donate their time and resources in helping their fellow man are fulfilling a commitment to community, family and faith,” he said.
MacMurray’s Chaplain Amy Kay Pavlovich organized the service opportunity.
