Area student named Lincoln Laureate

November 7, 2011

Matthew Stock, a nursing major from Chapin, IL, has been named a 2011 Lincoln Laureate award recipient. The Lincoln Academy of Illinois honored one senior student from each of the four-year, degree-granting colleges and universities in Illinois. Stock was chosen for this award for his excellence in curricular and extracurricular activities.

Stock was honored during the annual Student Laureate Convocation at the Old State Capitol State Historic Site in Springfield, IL, on Saturday Nov. 5, 2011. During the ceremony, Stock received a Student Laureate Medallion, along with an honorarium check and certificate of achievement. John Bailey, vice president for academic and student affairs, was present at the ceremony. Bailey attended the ceremony as an academic representative for Stock. This event marked the 37th year that students have been honored by the Academy.

Stock is the son of Joyce Stock of Jacksonville, IL, and the late Stanley Stock.
