Professor has lecture published
Text of presentation on Kant available online.
JACKSONVILLE, IL – Eric Berg, associate professor of philosophy and religion at MacMurray College, has had the text of one of his lectures accepted for electronic publication.
The lecture, "Kant on the Proofs for the Existence of God," is available for $5.49 online in PDF format by the Concordia Writers Cooperative at https://concordiawriters.com. The writers cooperative is an arm of the Concordia Publishing House, the publishing arm of the Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod.
The lecture compares Immanuel Kant and Martin Luther’s views of God. In “The Critique of Pure Reason” (1781), Immanuel Kant argues that God lies beyond the limits of human reason, and this claim is in complete agreement with Martin Luther's fundamental theological claim about God.
Dr. Berg earned his Ph.D. in philosophy from the University of Kansas, his master’s at Luther Seminary and his bachelor’s at Minnesota State University Moorhead. He was the 2007 recipient of the Dewey Wilkins Award for Teaching Excellence at MacMurray and was twice a research fellow at the Hong Kierkegaard Library at St. Olaf College in Minnesota.
