Mac artist to show work
June 17, 2011
MacMurray College Assistant Professor of Art Khara Koffel, a Montgomery County native, has had one of her works accepted to a national, juried show sponsored by the Lexington (KY) Art League.
The work, “for reasons more than one” (pictured left and attached), is a recreation of a blueprint, originally created by the artist’s father, of her childhood home. The work is drawn with cinnamon, whose aroma is known for its calming and anti-anxiety effects.
The work, selected from among more than 1,200 submitted, will be part of the Lexington Art League’s “More is More,” exhibit, which runs July 22 through Sept. 10. The show, open to artists working in any media, explores the concepts of multiples, repetition or abundance.
In 2000, she received her bachelor's in Studio Arts and Art History from Juniata College in Huntingdon, PA, and, in 2003, an MFA in sculpture and photography from the University of Alabama. She resides in Jacksonville with her husband, Marc Benner.
