Mac hires new offensive coordinator
Rich Mayson begins his Highlander career
Rich Mayson begins this month as the offensive coordinator for the MacMurray Highlanders football team.
Mayson comes to MacMurray after two seasons as an assistant coach at Montana Tech of the University of Montana in Butte, MT. As an assistant coach, he worked with wide receivers and tight ends and was in charge of video editing. He also served as the sports information director for the school.
"I am thrilled to welcome Coach Mayson to MacMurray College,” said Head Football Coach Jake Box. “He brings experience from coaching at the D2 powerhouse, NW Missouri, where he went to two national title games and from working with coaching legend Bob Green at Montana Tech. He is a smart coach who also had a great playing career at Truman State, and he will be a great fit at MacMurray College. The players have taken to him already and are excited to learn the new offensive concepts that Coach Mayson will be installing.”
Prior to his time at Montana Tech, Mayson spent two seasons as a graduate assistant at Northwest Missouri State, where he coached wide receivers.
Mayson is a graduate of Truman State University in Kirksville, MO, where he was a wide receiver and tight end for the Bulldogs. He also served as team captain during the 2005 and 2006 seasons.
“I cannot express how excited I am for the opportunity to join Coach Jake Box and Highlander football,” Mayson said. “I believe it will be a great fit for me and my family. I can’t wait to begin recruiting and preparing for spring workouts.”
A native of Mexico, Mo. Mayson and his wife, Kristin, reside in Jacksonville with their daughter, Jordin.
