Kelly Lankford conducted research on American sculptor.

MacMurray Associate Professor of History Kelly Lankford was awarded a Smithsonian Institution travel grant to conduct research at the Smithsonian’s Archives of American Art in Washington, D.C.

Dec. 28-Jan. 6, Lankford conducted research on American artist Anna Coleman Ladd, a published novelist and professional sculptor who opened a studio in France at the end of World War I and devoted her skills to making facial masks for French soldiers and some American soldiers whose faces had been damaged beyond repair during the war.
