Area scholar named student leader of the month

LaToya Jones nominated by MacMurray staff.


LaToya Jones of Gurnee, IL, was honored as the student leader of the month at MacMurray College. Jones is a junior majoring in accounting and business administration. She plays volleyball and basketball and is a Dean’s List student. She is also involved in the Black Students Union, Business Club, Phi Nu Sorority and is a peer tutor.

“LaToya is among the most outstanding students I have met at MacMurray,” said Dan Callihan, assistant director of the Center for Learning Excellence at MacMurray. “She is cheerful, polite and kind to everyone. She is a most ideal student.”

Jones graduated from North Chicago Community High School in 2008, where she was nominated to the National Honor Society. She is the daughter of Leon and Nadine Jones, both in Gurnee, IL.
