MacMurray shows uptick
College has 10 more students enrolled than last year.
MacMurray College started off the 2010-2011 school year with an increase in the number of students enrolled.
According to the official 10th-day figures of students enrolled at the College, MacMurray has 528 students this year compared to 518 at the same time last year. The increase stabilizes a four-year slide in enrollment at the College.
Perhaps more encouraging was the increase in the numbers of new students on campus. Freshmen and transfer students number 180 this year, compared to 153 last year.
“MacMurray College is focused on providing our students with a quality career-directed liberal arts education and is pleased to report a departure from decreasing enrollment seen across the last few years,” said College President Colleen Hester. “ Our faculty, staff, and administration are working together, with the support of our Board of Trustees, to continue to grow enrollment and to transform students’ lives positively, preparing them for personal and professional success, educating future leaders and professionals, and fueling our communities’ ‘economic development.”
