MacMurray football welcomes 4 new coaches
August 12, 2014
The MacMurray College Athletic Department will have four new football assistant coaches for 2014 season.
Taylor Hosta, a 2014 MacMurray graduate, will coach on the defensive side of the ball as the safeties coach. He will also take on duties as the video/film coordinator and quality control coach. Hosta graduated from MacMurray in this past spring with a degree in educational studies with minors in coaching and health.
He was a four-year starter for the Highlanders during his career and played safety, cornerback and outside linebacker. Hosta has previous coaching experience as the boys’ track and field coach at Routt Catholic High School in Jacksonville, IL, in 2014.
Chad Allen, from Robbins, TN, has been a member of the MacMurray football team since 2010 and completed his playing career last fall. He is now working as a student assistant on the defensive side of the ball while finishing his degree in history and secondary education. Allen is also a member of the American Football Coaches Association 2014 Future Football Coaches Academy.
Michael Peters will serve as the wide receivers coach. Peters was a four-year letter winner at Lake Forest College in Lake Forest, IL, helping the Foresters win the Midwest Conference Championship in 2012. As a three-year starting receiver, he had 68 receptions for 623 yards and six touchdowns.
Peters graduated from Kenmore West Senior High School in Kenmore, NY, in 2010 and earned a bachelor’s degree in communication from Lake Forest College this past May. He plans on pursuing his master’s degree in Sports Administration.
Alex Polster will be coaching the defensive line and will be responsible for the strength and conditioning program for the Highlander football team. He previously served as a strength and conditioning intern for the Northwestern University Wildcats Olympic Sports program. Polster also coached for three seasons at Delavan-Darien High School, serving as the defensive line coach and blitz game coordinator. He also spent time as an intern at NX Level Athletics, where he worked with NFL football players, including Deandre Levy and J.J. Watt.
Polster served as a student assistant at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater in 2009 season, helping the Warhawks to a NCAA Division III National Championship. Polster is a Delavan, WI native and attended the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater in Whitewater, WI, where he earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in health, human performance and recreation.
“We are extremely excited about these additions to our coaching staff,” said Head Football Coach Chris Douglas. “Losing coaches to career advancement always presents challenges, but we feel we brought in four, quality assistants, and I look forward to working with them in the continued rebuilding of our football program.”
