Volleyball receives academic award
August 5, 2014
The 2013-14 MacMurray College Volleyball team has received the American Volleyball Coaches Association Team Academic Award. This is second consecutive year the Highlanders have earned the honor. To be eligible for the award, teams must achieve at least a cumulative 3.30 grade point average.
There were 676 teams across all divisions, both male and female, and including high school that received this award this year, including 126 DIII schools.
"I am extremely pleased and proud our team has earned this award for the second straight year,” said Head Volleyball Coach Danielle Doerfler.
“This award symbolizes the hard work and dedication of our team in the classroom. It reemphasizes our belief in the Division III model and the true student athlete." Doerfler continued, "We could not have accomplished this award without the dedication and support of our MacMurray faculty and staff who work with these student-athletes on a daily basis to help them succeed. I also believe our Center for Learning Excellence has been influential in our team’s academic success. We thank everyone for their support and we look forward to competing for this award in the upcoming season."
The team starts off their season on August 23, 2014 against Black Hawk College-East.
