MacMurray College Fine Arts Season
Jacksonville – Saturday, October 1st, combines the musical and visual arts featuring the season opening of MacMurray College’s Applebee Gallery in the Putnam Center for the Arts. Prof. Ray Yeager will present his faculty art exhibition from 5 p.m. to 7p.m. Prior to the opening, he will host an artist pre-show lecture Thursday, Sept. 29, at 6:00 p.m. The exhibit will run through October 28.
The combination of music, storytelling and humor has made Mike Anderson one of the most sought-after performers from the Atlantic coast to Canada to the Gulf and all points in between. The College will also present its first student recital on Thursday, October 6, in Annie Merner Chapel at 5 p.m. The recital will include both piano, voice and organ students. Works performed will feature the music of several style periods from Baroque through 20th century. Entry to both the Putnam and Springer Centers is through the Bennington Lobby at the corner of Clay Avenue and State Street. All these events are free and open to the public. Located in Jacksonville, Ill., MacMurray College is a private, four-year, liberal arts, coeducational college, founded in 1846, and affiliated with the United Methodist Church.
