Art professor awarded for show

Jacksonville – MacMurray College Art Professor Khara Koffel was recently honored at an exhibition at the South Bend Regional Museum of Art.

Prof. Koffel won a $750 merit award for a mixed media sculpture at Biennial 23 which runs from June 3 through September 11, 2005. The museum uses this pool of artists to acquire new works into its permanent collection with a $3,000 purchase award.

Now in its 23rd year, the South Bend Regional Museum of Art's all media Biennial 23 is open to artists who live in Indiana, Illinois, Michigan, Minnesota, Kentucky, Ohio and Wisconsin. Prof. Koffel was one of only 118 submitting artists, of which only 14 were selected by juror Aron Packer of Aron Packer Gallery, Chicago, IL. By limiting the pool of exhibiting artists, the museum is able to allow for the showing of a greater body of work by each artist.

Awards were announced at the Opening Reception on June 3, 2005.
