Labor Day Sports Broadcast!


    Jacksonville – MacMurray College sports teams will jump into the 2006-2007 year with one of the busiest weekends of the fall. Sports fans will have the opportunity to see three of MacMurray’s squads in action at home during the holiday weekend.

     The festivities kickoff on Friday evening when the Highlander women’s soccer team hosting Rockford in a match at 5:00 p.m.

      The Highlanders football team kicks off its season with its home opener against Augustana College. Kickoff is slated for 1:00 p.m. The football game on Saturday will be broadcast ‘LIVE” by MacMurray’s new flagship radio station, WJIL/WJVO. Highlander fans will also be able to follow all the action with the webcast of the game at www.gomachighlanders.com. Athletic Director Kevin Haslam will debut his “Coach’s Show” earlier that morning from 9:05 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. with an interview of MacMurray Head Football Coach Brandon McCray. Coach McCray will talk about the 2006 team, his starting line-up and what we can expect this season.

      On Saturday and Sunday, MacMurray will host the inaugural EconoLodge Inn & Suites Bill Killen Classic. The Classic features MacMurray and three other men’s soccer teams in a two-day event. MacMurray will take on Elizabethtown College of Pennsylvania in the opener on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. That match will be followed by Westminster College vs. Harris-Stowe University at 1:00 p.m. Soccer action continues on Sunday when MacMurray will play Harris-Stowe at 11:00 a.m. and Westminster will take on Elizabethtown at 1:00 p.m.
