New faculty to start fall semester at MacMurray

     Jacksonville – MacMurray College announced the appointment of a new member to its faculty for the coming 2006 fall semester.

     Dr. Sharon L. C. Young has accepted a position with the College's biology department as an assistant professor of biology.

     She graduated summa cum laude with a B.S. degree in biology from George Washington University in 1998. She earned her Ph.D. in molecular and cellular biology from Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis in 2004.

     Dr. Young had most recently been an adjunct faculty member at Washington University’s University College and at Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville. She has also been an adjunct faculty member at St. Louis Community College at Florissant Valley, an instructor for Washington University’s department of biology, and an adjunct professor at St. Louis Community College at Meramec.

     Her present research experience includes her role as a post-doctoral research scholar at Washington University School of Medicine. Prior to that, she has been a graduate research assistant at the school and a research assistant at Life Technologies, Inc.

     Dr. Young has been credited in various publications and has given presentations at several scientific meetings including the Gordon Research Conference.

     She currently resides in St. Charles, Mo.
