MacMurray College announces two appointments
Jacksonville – MacMurray College recently announced two appointments to its senior administrative staff effective June 1st.
Dr. David E. Fitz, formerly the assistant vice president for academic affairs as well as associate professor of political science and college recorder, has been appointed as the vice president for academic affairs. Dr. Fitz joined the College faculty at MacMurray in 1997 as an assistant professor and was promoted to associate professor in 2002. He became assistant vice president for academic affairs in 2003.
Dr. Fitz is a 1985 graduate of York College in Pennsylvania with a Bachelor of Arts degree in international studies. He obtained his doctorate in political science at the University of Pittsburgh in 1993. While working on his doctorate, Dr. Fitz was a part-time instructor at the university. He taught at Eastern Illinois University in 1993 to 1994 and at Macon College from 1994 to1996.
Dr. Sally Cayan has accepted the position of vice president of student affairs. Formerly the Director of the Office of Student Life, she earned her B.A. degree at the University of Wisconsin at Green Bay, her M.S. degree at Western Illinois University, and her Ph.D. at the University of Minnesota.
She came to MacMurray in 2003 from the University of Minnesota at Duluth (UMD) where she was the Student Activities Advisor. Her duties included developing student leadership programs, supervising student employees and planning major campus events.
