MacMurray College to feature Arts Alive-II

    Jacksonville – In response to the success of the first “Arts ALIVE!” in October of last year, the fine arts department of MacMurray College is holding a second program Thursday, March 30.

     Described as “an evening celebrating the best of art, music, and theatre,” tickets for the program are only $10.00 and the deadline for RSVP’s has been extended

     “Arts ALIVE” will again feature an opening reception including hors d-oeuvres and cocktails at 5:15 p.m. in the Bennington Lobby of the Putnam Center for the Arts.

     The Center’s Applebee Gallery will host a reception at 5:45 p.m. to begin the evening. The Gallery will feature a sneak preview of the mixed media student art exhibition that will open on April 1.

      At 6:15 p.m., flutist Matthew Allison will perform in Annie Merner Chapel. Mr. Allison holds a bachelors degree from the University of Louisville and is currently seeking a master’s degree from the University of Kansas. Though known as a promoter of new music, his program will feature light classical music including themes from Bizet’s Carmen. Besides teaching music, Mr. Allison is a certified yoga and fitness instructor, teaching wellness for musicians.

     The third and final part of the evening’s events will be the world premier performance of Faith, a play by Maria Rokas, at 7:30 p.m. in the Marian Chase Schaeffer Theatre. Ms. Rokas lives and works in San Francisco with many of her plays produced throughout California and Europe. She has been profiled as one of the Bay Area’s up and coming playwrights.

      The $10 admission will cover admission to all three events.
