Danielle Doerfler is entering her fourth season at the helm of the volleyball program. Doerfler has also created a successful alumnae volleyball event working to reconnect the program with its successful alumnae connections. Coach D has also used her Illinois College ties to begin a cross town match between Mac and IC held annually each year with the proceeds going to the Mia Ware Foundation.

For the second consecutive season the Highlander volleyball program has received national recognition from the AVCA (American Volleyball Coaches Association) for their academic excellence.  The national award is called the AVCA Academic Excellence Award and is presented to high school and college teams whose cumulative GPA is a minimum of 3.3.
